An Early Childhood Program

Welcome to the official website of Little Gems Preschool located in Sammamish, Washington. Little Gems was founded in 1993. We provide a holistic approach to learning in all domains of early childhood which are; cognitive, social/emotional, large motor, small motor, and the dispositions (the arts). Our curriculum embraces the social, learning and developmental theories of Piaget, Skinner, Erikson, and Maslow. We use "best practice" standards in teaching and assessing children. Our educational program, with an emphasis in reading and math, is designed to meet and exceed all the developmental and cognitive bench marks of the
Lake Washington and Issaquah school districts.

We are accredited by the Council for Early Childhood and licensed by the State of Washington and the City of Sammamish. We offer both morning and afternoon class schedules. Click Here for specific classes and hours as well as directions to each school. Discounts are given for multiple family members. Scholarships are available for those who qualify. Small Hands on Art provides our enrichment programs in music and drama.

Our open door policy allows parents to visit their child during class. We encourage parents to be involved with their child's education. We welcome help in the class room as well as with field trips, parties, and carnivals. Parents who are interested may also sign up for our PTA. Parents may talk with their child's teacher on a regular basis for informal progress reports. Progress reports are given in January for all 3 year olds. One to one conferences are also provided upon request. Comprehensive assessments are done in January for all pre-K students. We offer a low student to teacher ratio. Written lesson plans are posted in each class room. Learning is comprised of self directed as well as teacher directed activities. We offer individual, small group, and large group learning.
